We can all agree, laundry is one of the most tedious chores around the home. Therefore, any way to spend less time doing laundry and more time doing, well, anything else is a blessing!

That is why, here at Sale Appliances, we have put together some of our top laundry hacks to help you ensure that you'll never get a load wrong again.

Hack 1: Keep Your White Clothes White with Vinegar

Are you finding that your white clothes simply aren't staying white anymore? This could be down to a variety of reasons, including using a little too much detergent in an area with hard water, or perhaps you're simply just putting too many heavily soiled items in at once.

A great way to refresh your clothes is to rewash them with the right dosage of detergent and with the hottest water safe for the clothes should brighten them, yet if that doesn’t work there’s another trick you can try.

Simply try pouring half a cup of distilled white vinegar into the drum, followed by your load of washing and wash them as normal. This is a great way to wash and soften towels, and don’t worry, there’s no reason to rewash. The vinegar smell should disperse through the rinse cycle.

Hack 2: Soften Hard and Flat Towels

If you live in an area with hard water, the minerals in the water can cause your towels to feel hard and scratchy. However, there are various methods to reverse this.

Firstly, try the vinegar tip as featured in hack one above. This is great, especially on coloured towels. Similarly, you can try tumble drying the towels rather than drying them on the radiator, and throwing a balled-up piece of tin foil into the tumble dryer cycle.

Hack 3: Wash Jean Inside Out

The washing and drying process can be tough on your clothes. Over time, they’ll lose colour and potentially shape as they rub against each other and the drum of the machine.

To minimise colour loss, wash your jeans inside out and leave them this way until you remove them from the tumble dryer.

What’s more, don’t forget to do up the fly zip, just to make sure that any snags are prevented on other clothes!

Hack 4: Use a Mesh Bag for Socks

There is nothing more frustrating than washing various pairs of socks and losing a few along the way!

A great way to keep your socks paired up is by throwing them into a mesh washing bag. Then, all you’ll need to do is throw them into the wash.

Hack 5: Remove Wrinkles

You’ve hung up your favourite clothes, or put bedding in the drawer, yet in the meantime, they’ve become creased and you’re in a time crunch to get them looking great once more.

Firstly, if you don’t have a tumble dryer, you’ll have to resort to the good-old iron. Yet, if you do have a tumble dryer, there is a quick and easy method to get your garments looking great and wrinkle-free.

Simply just pop the item in the tumble dryer with a dryer sheet and an ice cube for around 10 minutes. Once the cycle is over, your clothes will come out smelling great and wrinkle-free.

This works as the ice cubes melt in the machine and create a steaming effect.

Hack 6: Dry Your Clothes Faster

If your clothes are taking a while to dry, try lightening the load first. If your tumble dryer is overloaded, you’ll find that it will take a long while to dry. So if you’re in a time crunch, take out any jeans and spare bedding to speed up the process.

Similarly, try throwing a towel in the tumble dryer with a load of washing that is taking a while to dry. This will help to absorb any extra moisture.

Hack 7: Invest in an Efficient Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer

Upgrading your laundry appliances will help to save you money and give you much greater control over your washing.

A more efficient model will ensure that very little energy and water go to waste during every cycle that is run. This will not only help reduce your impact on the planet, but it will also reduce your monthly bills.

More modern models also allow you to choose exactly what temperature you would like your wash load to be on and how fast you want the spin speed to be, to further care for your clothes.

We hope the above tips have helped you to make your laundry routine that bit easier. Should you be wishing to invest in a new laundry appliance, be sure to get in touch with the team here at Sale Appliances Ltd today!
